Jill Friedberg Showings in Arizona

The work of nationally recognized Phoenix artist, Jill Friedberg, will be featured in two local group exhibitions: “Flourish Artworks Inspired By Our Gardens” at the Vision Gallery of Chandler from July 25 – August 30 and “Personal Panethnicity” at The Herberger Theater Art Gallery thru September 1.

At the Vision Gallery, her art celebrates unexpected discoveries that abound in nature both near and far from home. Thriving on a multicolored, multidimensional world of many choices, Friedberg has created work that brings together a bouquet of photography, painting and mixed media that portrays garden scenes with a certain serenity and calmness.

In “Personal Panethicity”, at the Herberger Gallery, Friedberg explores, in her own individualistic style, cultural diversity in the light of recurring natural phenomena. She confronts pre-existing perceptions of beauty as it relates to commonly shared attitudes and traditions.

In both exhibitions her work integrates her photography and painting with a wide variety of repurposed materials (palm bark, textiles, horsehair, laundry lint, paint palette and pencil shavings, glass, and wooden and metal beads) that are not immediately apparent, but reward the viewers as they unexpectedly unveil themselves. Friedberg’s art has been exhibited extensively in museums, galleries and universities throughout the United States. Most of her art currently resides in private collections, hospitals and international corporations.

Over the years Friedberg has lectured on various art-related topics…including the “ Art of the Holocaust”. Her father, a U.S. army infantryman, was one of the first soldiers in to liberate the Dachau concentration camp at the end of World War II.
