2019 Tax Credit Deadline Still April 15th, 2020

The Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) has extended the deadline for filing and paying state income taxes from April 15 to July 15, 2020, to match the federal guidelines. The new deadline means taxpayers filing state tax returns or submitting payments after the previous April 15 deadline will not be assessed late filing or late payment penalties.

But the state isn’t giving individuals extra time to make contributions to their favorite charities for a retroactive state tax credit. The deadline for filing and being able to take advantage of the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit or the Arizona Private School Tax Credit is still April 15.

2019 Arizona Private School Tax Credit

You can take the Arizona Private School Tax Credit and receive a dollar-for-dollar Arizona tax credit up to a maximum of $1,135 for filing single or married (filing separate returns) and $2,269 for married (filing joint returns). Through the tax credit, you can support Jewish education ensuring a bright future for a child with no net cost to you.

NOTICE: A school tuition organization cannot award, restrict or reserve scholarships solely on the basis of donor recommendation. A taxpayer may not claim a tax credit if the taxpayer agrees to swap donations with another taxpayer to benefit either taxpayer’s own dependent. Consult your tax advisor for specific tax advice.
