Survivor procession and candle lighting. Reception hosted by Women of Reform Judaism of Temple Emanu-El. This program will mark 80 years since the opening of the “Degenerate Art” (Entartete Kunst) exhibition staged by the Nazis in Munich in 1937. The exhibition specifically targeted Jewish artists, art collectors and dealers and presented modernist art as a threat to the “Aryan” ideals of German culture. This Yom HaShoah commemoration will provide an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between art, politics and memory.
