New JFCS Creative Aging Virtual Classes Start Soon

Creative Aging is a national movement aimed at fostering an understanding of the vital relationship between creative expressions and quality of life for older adults. These participatory, fun classes stimulate the mind and body and provide an outlet for artistic expressions. Classes are offered by  Jewish Family & Children’s Service through Zoom.

Creative Aging Voice Class:

An 8-week session which teaches the basics of vocal technique in the context of a supportive small group of fellow singers and music lovers under the tutelage of Dan Kurek. Dan has been choir director at Temple Chai in Phoenix for the last 15 years and has many decades of experience as a singer, teacher, performer and conductor.

Participants can choose anything to sing from opera to pop.  With our move to ZOOM, piano accompaniments are recorded by Dan and e-mailed to the student in advance of the class for home practice and use in the class.  The class is structured so everyone has a chance to sing their song with the accompaniment and the other students and Dan offer positive feedback and support in a master class style. Previous experience is NOT a requirement; all it takes is a desire to sing and express that inner Sinatra or Streisand!
