ADL Arizona Meets with Mesa Police Department

On May 4, ADL Education Director Kelsey Greenberg-Young and Associate Director of Law Enforcement and Security Initiatives Matt Brown met with the Mesa Police Department’s (MPD) Hate Crimes department, at their request.

MPD’s strategy for their involvement with K-12 schools in the Mesa area focuses on bias, bullying, and hate-related education. MPD intends to utilize federal grant funding they recently received to support these initiatives.

Director Greenberg-Young discussed the ADL’s No Place For Hate Program and ADL’s A World of Difference Institute Program. Also discussed in this session was potential ADL training of MPD personnel on hate crimes, violent extremism, and hate signs and symbols.

ADL Arizona looks forward to ongoing discussions, guidance, and engagement with MPD on these initiatives.
