The surge of anti-Semitic incidents in the United States is alarming to many. At this town hall, hosted by ADL Arizona’s Government Relations Advocacy and Community Engagement Committee (GRACE), we’ll discuss what’s happening locally in Arizona and the continued incidents throughout the United States . We’ll explore various ways people and groups can act as advocates and activists in order to enact change.
Joining us at this town hall will be Tammy Gillies, ADL San Diego Regional Director, who worked closely with victims, law enforcement and the Poway community. You’ll have a chance to hear directly from Tammy and to learn more about the second shooting targeting Jews at a synagogue post Pittsburgh. Tammy and the ADL San Diego staff were on the ground in Poway—she’ll share with audience members their experience and how ADL responded to this tragedy.
Cantorial Soloist Marjorie Hochberg has served the Temple Emanu-El community for 20 years this summer, and we are celebrating this milestone with a special concert! Join us as Marjorie sings some of her favorite theater and opera solos, and musical friends old and new join in with Jewish favorites as well as world premieres.
Our featured musical guests include Rachel Saul, violinist of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and one of Marjorie’s former students. She will play two new pieces, respectively written for this occasion by composer Lewis Saul and by Temple Emanu-El Music Director Robert Lopez-Hanshaw.
Previous music director and accomplished pianist Chris Tackett is also performing, as well as Rouzbeh Tebyanian.
Donations in Marjorie’s honor will be recognized at this event. For more information on donations, please contact Jill Rich at (520) 349-0174.

Guy is a singer and songwriter who spends his days fixing vacuums in the Dublin shop he runs with his father, and his nights playing his music in local pubs. He is on the verge of giving up music altogether when he meets a woman who convinces him to believe in the power of his music. This eight-time Tony Award®-winning musical is a spell-binding tale of love and loss, following dreams and walking away.
Don’t miss this “convulsively funny” (NY Times) parody from the comic mastermind behind the long-running hit Forbidden Broadway. After tearing it up in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, Spamilton: An American Parody will stage a singing, dancing, comedy revolution in Phoenix for a limited time only. The Huffington Post raves “you don’t have to see Hamilton to have side-splitting fun at Spamilton.”
