April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and to help raise awareness and education, the Valley’s premier Krav Maga studio EVKM Self Defense & Fitness will be hosting a FREE women’s self-defense seminar on Saturday, April 7 from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Held at EVKM’s Tempe studio, the seminar will be taught by Lead Krav Maga Instructor Ivvette Rios Hofichter and will teach women the basics of self-defense with some of the top go-to techniques, tactics, and strategies that every woman should know.

The annual Sculpture Garden Exhibition returns on Sunday, April 8 with dynamic work showcasing abstract imagery, nature scenes, and portraits. The Tucson Jewish Community Center’s Sculpture Garden is Arizona’s largest public sculpture garden. The exhibit was juried by public artist Barbara Grygutis and displays works by Tucson’s finest sculptors. HawkinsDance will perform an interpretive dance inspired by the 2018 Sculpture Garden selections. A kosher brunch buffet will be served.

The event will take place on April 9 at 12:30 p.m. at the Bureau of Jewish Education on the Ina Levine Jewish Community Center Campus, 12701 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85254.
Also starring Ramon Bieri, Val Bisoglio and George DiCenzo, this Robert Aldrich-directed film follows a Polish rabbi who wanders through the Old West on his way to lead a synagogue in San Francisco.
Max McQueen, former film critic for the East Valley Tribune, will host a discussion session following the film.
