March 4-5 – begins at sundown on the 4th Purim celebrates the salvation of the Jews in ancient Persia from the wicked Hama, through the leadership of Queen Esther and her cousin Mordecai. Check for a fun and creative Purim Shpiel near you!

Dr. Adam Ussishhkin, Ph.D will speak about the history of Hebrew and yow Hebrew fits into the larger Semitic group of languages, with some background on Biblical vs. Modern Hebrew. He will also cover information about the history of Yiddish, a Germanic language. Although Yiddish is spoken primarily in the orthodox Jewish community, it is experiencing a secular revival in different parts of the world.
Dr Ussishkin is an associate professor of linguists at the university of Arizona. He has a BA in linguistics and French fro UCLA and a Ph.D in linguistics from UC Santa Cruz.
The Program is free and open to the public. It will take place at the Murphy-Wilmot Public Library, 530 N Wilmot Road, Tucson AZ.
