Animals have a rich inner life, complex emotions, and an innate intelligence we are just beginning to understand. Reviewing the recent scientific evidence for the ways that animals communicate and interact, we will move into an experiential place where we can connect with animals on a deeper, non-verbal level. This connection builds trust and deepens the bond between humans and animals as we learn to enter their world.
Robin Bessier’s band returns to the J with the next concert in the Jewish Jazz Connection series, exploring the music and life of composer and lyricist Irving Berlin. One of the most prolific contributors and shapers of the “great American songbook,” the Russian-born, self-taught composer rose up for an impoverished childhood to write over 1,500 songs over a 60-year career. Vocalists Robin Bessier’s band includes master musicians Chris Pena on piano and Mike Levy on bass.
