Old Jews Telling Jokes @ Herberger Theater Center

Philip Roger Roy and Playhouse Productions, Inc. present a limited engagement of the off-Broadway hit “Old Jews Telling Jokes” at the Herberger Theater Center at 222 E. Monroe in Phoenix. The national touring production will open on Wednesday, Dec. 25 at 7 pm and continues through Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020.

“Old Jews Telling Jokes,” created by Peter Gethers and Daniel Okrent and directed by Jeremy Quinn, has been called a “pickle-barrel full of giggles” and showcases five actors in a revue-type production that pays tribute to and reinvents classic jokes of the past and present.

It celebrates the rich tradition of Jewish humor and “all the rabbis, complaining wives, fed-up husbands, patience-challenged physicians, gossiping ladies, and competitive men’ populating it,” says Producer Philip Roger Roy.

The humor is suggestive and even raunchy as the ‘Old Jews’ make fun of themselves as well as followers of every other religion. It is recommended for ages 17 and above.

Every Brilliant Thing @ Theater Artists Studio

Kid in the Corner, along with Theater Artists Studio and Greasepaint Youth Theater, is proud to present this year’s highly-anticipated event will feature two performances of Every Brilliant Thing, a play that strikes a delicate balance between sobering loss and cathartic laughter. Adapted from the hit off-Broadway one-character show of the same name, written by Duncan Macmillan, and starring Arizona’s own Debra Rich Gettleman, the play recounts a life lived in the shadow of suicide. Admission includes a catered dinner buffet and wine reception for all attendees that will be held between the two shows.
