Syrian Cuisine Cooking Series
Chef Shahd will teach you to make Syrian delicacies as well as a sampling of her signature recipes. Chef Shahd?s single-session cooking classes at The J have been featured on Tucson?s own Fox 11 news. Co-hosted with the International Rescue Committee in Tucson. The recipes will be kosher and vegetarian.

Shahd will teach you how to make her signature Syrian vegetable salad; a healthy potato salad; tabbouleh; and fattoush salad.
Sunday, September 24: Syrian Appetizers
Learn to create Syrian appetizers, including mutabal,a beet and eggplant dish; ful medamas, a fava bean dish; and baba ganoush.
Sunday, October 1: Syrian Specialties
Shahd will share her favorite recipes for oozy, a Syrian stuffed bread; kubah dabeh, a vegetarian croquette; taziki sauce; and yalange, a Syrian vegetable casserole.
Sunday, October 8: Syrian Desserts
Shahd will lead a lesson on Syrian desserts, including baklava; atayif, Syrian pancakes; and kunafeh, a pastry made from pistachios.
All generations of the Tucson J are invited to join your voices together with renowned Jewish artist, Billy Jonas and local song leaders for a festive afternoon of music. We’ll sing, dance, hear a PJ Library story (Sadie’s Sukkah Breakfast), enjoy a light breakfast themed dinner, and celebrate the holiday of Sukkot. This music experience is made possible with thanks to a generous grant from the Jewish Community Center Association, and is in partnership with PJ Library.
The event will take place in the JCC Sculpture Garden.
Families are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket for seating.
