Go behind the music to that December day in 1956 when Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis cut a record together at Sun Records Studios in Memphis. Half stage play and half foot-stomping live show, Million Dollar Quartet puts you right where the action is, as these four legends clash, jockey, and gel into one of the finest musical acts ever recorded.
Rabbis vs. World Softball Classic is a fundraising event for Shearim Torah High School where Rabbis from the community play softball against sponsored laymen. Approximately 250 attend this family fun event. All proceeds of this event go directly to Shearim’s end of the year retreat in Prescott.
On the retreat our students bond and gain skills in ways they are unable to in an ordinary school setting.
The retreat takes place on the beautiful campus of Friendly Pines. The girls help in all of the preparations of the retreat including cooking and serving all meals and planning activities. This retreat is the highlight of most students experience in our school. As you might assume the costs of the retreat are high and unfortunately most girls are unable to afford to meet these financial demands.
You have an opportunity to be a part in enabling all of our students to attend out retreat by being a Corporate Sponsor for the event. With a Corporate Sponsorship you receive a full ad in the ad bill as well as a large poster with your companies logo on it. Corporate Sponsorships are only $200. If you are able to partner with us in this special way please feel free to email or call.
Philip Roger Roy and Playhouse Productions, Inc. present a limited engagement of the off-Broadway hit “Old Jews Telling Jokes” at the Herberger Theater Center at 222 E. Monroe in Phoenix. The national touring production will open on Wednesday, Dec. 25 at 7 pm and continues through Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020.
“Old Jews Telling Jokes,” created by Peter Gethers and Daniel Okrent and directed by Jeremy Quinn, has been called a “pickle-barrel full of giggles” and showcases five actors in a revue-type production that pays tribute to and reinvents classic jokes of the past and present.
It celebrates the rich tradition of Jewish humor and “all the rabbis, complaining wives, fed-up husbands, patience-challenged physicians, gossiping ladies, and competitive men’ populating it,” says Producer Philip Roger Roy.
The humor is suggestive and even raunchy as the ‘Old Jews’ make fun of themselves as well as followers of every other religion. It is recommended for ages 17 and above.
Ticket prices range from $45-65 and may be purchased online at PlayhouseInfo.com, by phone at 602-252-8497 or the Herberger Theater box office.

Tracing Family
Monday, January 13th 5:30-8:00pm
Join us for a bookmaking workshop to honor your family and loved ones. Bring with you family photos, images, or text that can be copied to create a beautiful piece of visual artwork.
Artist Gaby Hurtado-Ramos, who created the art for the ASYLUM exhibition, will introduce you to a variety of simple binding techniques and image transfer methods. Along with prompts and starting points that have been helpful in their own artwork, we will
dive into making a handmade book that might honor or bring you closer to an ancestor.
This workshop requires a sliding scale $25-50 supplies fee. RSVP required:

Artist Bio:
Gaby Hurtado-Ramos is an artist currently based in Providence, Rhode Island, via Tucson,
Arizona. A printmaker, illustrator, and bookmaker. Her practice involves family history, personal joys, and politically engaged work. The thing she misses the most about Tucson is the amazing people here and dancing with them to cumbia.
