Congregation Anshei Israel will present a workshop for high school students about anti-Semitism led by StandWithUs on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 11:15 a.m. on Zoom. Teens attending will include high school teacher’s aides from CAI and Or Chadash/Temple Emanu-El, plus members of CAI USY and BBYO, but all Jewish high school students may attend.
The 45-minute workshop will provide a space for teens to share experiences they have had with anti-Semitism before transitioning into a conversation about how to stop this hatred through strategic and proactive education. “We will also explore how to recognize anti-Semitism and if it always looks the same. The program will teach participants how to address a challenging or hurtful comment, without resulting in confrontation, while we attempt to educate one another. We will learn how to recognize antisemitism and how to discuss it with others in an effective manner,” says Nichole Chorny, youth and education director and cantorial soloist at CAI.
StandWithUs is a non-profit international education pro-Israel organization that fights anti-Semitism with education for people of all ages. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Los Angeles, it has chapters and offices throughout the U.S., in Israel, the U.K., Canada and Brazil.
For more information and to register, contact Chorny at cantorialsoloist@caiaz.org.
