Tucson JCC & USA Triathlon Kids Splash and Dash @ Tucson Jewish Community Center

The USA Triathlon Youth Splash & Dash Aquathlon Series is open to athletes ages 7-15.  The Tucson JCC will be hosting this National event on August 26, 2018 at 6:00am transition opens and race starts at 7:00am,  The Splash and Dash is a fun and fast-growing sport that combines running and swimming. The series serves as an introduction to multisport and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Why Participate?

Exposes and educates youth to the multiple lifestyle, all while being involved in a fun, exciting, and safe atmosphere! It will really help you to “get your feet wet” in multisports.

Creates opportunity to meet friends and others youth athletes who are interested and also engage in the multisport lifestyle.

Requires less equipment compared to a triathlon since a Spash and Dash does not require a bike.

All participates will receive a finishers medal and event t-shirt.

Event details and schedule

The event will be on August 26, 2018 at the Tucson JCC on 3800 E River Rd. Tucson AZ.  The transition opens at 6:00am and race will begin at 7:00am with Time Trial start with a Separtine start based on Age.

The Course will be on the Tucson JCC property and is very kid friendly.

Arrival time will be 5:45am-6:30am, Kids must be prepared to set up their own transition areas no adults allowed in this safety zone.  Volunteers are on hand to assist the kids. The race will have aged based waves and each age group will have specific areas to set up transition. This information will be given to you at pick up.

Packet pick up will be held at the Tucson JCC on Friday August 24 from 4:00-6:00pm and Sunday from 5:45-6:40 am only.  There is NO race day registration.

Parking: Parking is available in the FRONT of the Tucson JCC and additional parking will be available across the street at Brandi Fenton Park. Back parking lot of J closed.

What to Bring? Swim suit, Goggles, towel, tennis shoes, sunscreen, and a good attitude.  Additional suggestions but not required would be a hat and sun glasses

What to Wear? Kids can race in swim suits because it is the middle of summer in Tucson AZ.  Chances are it will be warm.

Event Distances:

Age 7-10 100 yard SWIM, 1.2 mile RUN

Ages 11-15 200 yard SWIM, 1 mile RUN

USA Triathlon annual membership required.

Join the D-backs for Jewish Community Day! The D-backs have created a special offer for this event for all youth tickets to be priced at $10 with a free upgrade to the seating location for the additional tickets. Youth tickets are for ages 15 and under.

You will need to email jimperial@dbacks.com the number of children to receive your unique code for the online purchase. Maximum of two (2) children per adult ticket purchased.

The first 300 tickets purchased through this special event offer will include a D-backs T-shirt in Hebrew. First come on sizes. A Taste of Judaism @ Tucson Jewish Community Center

Temple Emanu-El is proud to offer A Taste of Judaism at The J. Rabbi Batsheva Appel and Cantorial Soloist Marjorie Hochberg will lead an open, interactive, family-friendly exploration of Judaism in three, two-hour sessions on Spirituality, Values, and Community. This free introductory class includes delicious “tastes” of traditional Jewish foods prepared by Temple’s Women of Reform Judaism. Child care and a complementary children’s program will be provided.

‘Hummus! The Movie’ @ East Valley JCC

“Hummus! The Movie” is a documentary that explores the unifying power of this Middle Eastern dish through the stories of three hummus makers:  a Muslim woman, a Christian man and an Orthodox Jew.

The film is part of an Israeli movie series held at the East Valley JCC, 908 N. Alma School Road, Chandler. Admission is free, donations are appreciated.
