Rabbi Zalman and Tzipi Levertov, regional directors Chabad of Arizona, are excited to announce the arrival of the 37th representative family to service the growing Jewish community. Rabbi Dovber and Chana’le Dechter, with their two young daughters Moussia and Risya, will be moving from Brooklyn to establish a full-time presence in the Downtown Phoenix community. Rabbi Dechter, an ordained Rabbi and personal Halachic guide, will also serve the growing Arizona Jewish community, answering questions on advanced practical Jewish law.
Chabad of Downtown Phoenix, under the leadership and guidance of Rabbi Levi and Chani Levertov, has been in search of a full-time representative for the last few years. Rabbi Levi Levertov, co-director of Smile on Seniors, has been leading weekly classes and discussions in offices downtown, but with the growing downtown Jewish community comes the need for a full-time center to include Shabbat and Holiday programming. “We are very excited to have found the perfect family to establish a full-time presence and lead the Downtown Jewish Community,” Rabbi Levi said.

Rabbi Dovber Dechter grew up in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. He studied at the United Lubavitcher Yeshivas in Brooklyn and France and also attended the Rabbinical College of America in NJ. In 2009, Rabbi Dovber received his Rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Dovid Schochet, President of the Toronto Rabbinical Council and a member of Vaad Rabbonei Lubavitch. Rabbi Dovber continued his training and in 2011 was certified in Dayanus, advanced Jewish law, by Rabbi Schochet. In 2015, Rabbi Dovber completed a rigorous course in advanced Contemporary Halacha by Rabbi Feitel Levin of Melbourne, Australia. For the last five years, Rabbi Dovber ran a unique Smicha (Rabbinic Ordination) Yeshiva in the upper west side of NYC, where the Rabbinical students were trained in Jewish law as well as in community outreach. Rabbi Dovber Dechter is very excited and looking forward to this new journey in Phoenix.

Mrs. Chana’le Dechter grew up in beautiful Rancho Mirage, CA. A fourth-generation Chabad emissary herself, she always felt this was her calling as well. After attending seminary in Jerusalem for a gap year, she taught preschool, Hebrew School, and ran teen programming in communities in Southern CA. Soon after, she married and settled down with her husband in Brooklyn, NY. Chana’le spent the last nine years involved in many projects of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute. She has served as a senior team member of the National Jewish Retreat and Land and Spirit Israel trip. Most recently, Chana’le was the administrator and project manager of the highly acclaimed JLI Flagship program, an in-depth learning program offered in over 450 communities worldwide. Chana’le is looking forward to joining the Phoenix Jewish community, and to continue the growth of Chabad of Downtown Phoenix. buy fildena online
