2-1-1 COVID-19 Hotline
The hotline is administered by 2-1-1 Arizona and the Crisis Response Network and will offer an entry point to field questions and concerns from Arizona residents about COVID-19. The line will operate from 8 am to 8 pm each day of the week and can be reached by dialing 2-1-1 while an individual is located in Arizona.

COVID-19 Testing Sites
There has been a big new development on the testing front. Banner Health today launched drive-thru testing at four Arizona sites. Anyone with symptoms can call 844-549-1851 to speak with a clinical team member to determine if testing is appropriate. The line will be staffed from 7 a.m. to  6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.

AARP

AZ Grocery Stores – Hours for Seniors
The CDC still recommends that older shoppers and other vulnerable groups stay home if they can, and grocery delivery and curbside pick-up remain safer options.
If you have no other choice but to go out and shop, here are a few things you’ll want to remember:

  • Bring hand sanitizer and a small baggie of disinfecting wipes
  • When you’re cashing out, use a debit or credit card. That way you don’t have to hand over bills or receive change
  • Wash plastic or metal containers with soap and water
  • If the item is cardboard, wash your hands after you’ve picked it up or put it away at home
  • Clean off the counters that you put your groceries on

Free Loan at the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona
Free Loan at the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona is an interest-free, non-sectarian, non-profit organization offering interest-free loans for those in need. Qualified applicants can receive a loan up to a maximum of $5,000 with the appropriate guarantor. If you or someone you know needs help, call (520) 297-5360 or yana@thefreeloan.org.

Gizmodo
Gizmodo’s website has DIY instructions on how to make a face mask from a T-Shirt or coffee filter and bandanna. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advised that people in the U.S. wear masks in public settings to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 between individuals who may be asymptomatic.

Interfaith Community Services
ICS offers emergency financial assistance to all community members in need. It has two permanent food banks and a mobile food pantry.
ICS provides essential services for senior and disabled adults (pre-registration is required) including transportation to the doctor or grocery store, shopping for seniors, mobile meals, and friendly phoning.
If you or someone you know needs help, contact them Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm at (520) 297-6049. To avoid calling at their busiest time, ICS is best reached after 10 am or visit their website at icstucson.org.

Jewish Family & Children’s Service
JFCS is committed to continuing vital services for thousands of families in the community. As a result, all JFCS healthcare centers and clinics remain open:

To protect clients and patients, JFCS requests that if individuals are sick and require services, that they reach out to the following to discuss alternatives options for treatment:

  • For Behavioral Health and Primary Medical Care, please call (602) 256-0528.
  • For administration and other inquiries, please call (602) 279-7655.

Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Southern Arizona
Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Foundation are working diligently with Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Southern Arizona (JFCS) to expand our community’s Jewish Emergency Financial Assistance program. All JFCS services are being provided remotely, either by phone or through teleconferencing.
Jewish Emergency Financial Assistance provides food cards, medical assistance, and other basic provisions for Jewish people and families in need.
Jewish Elder Access connects seniors 60+ to the services and support they need.
JFCS also offers case management, resource referral, and assistance navigating benefits.

Jewish Free Loan
Through Jewish Free Loan’s Community-Wide Emergency Relief Loan Program, interest-free loans are available for, but not limited to, the following:
•  Childcare Expenses
•  Educational / Homeschool Costs
•  Rent / Utility Payments
•  Insurance Costs
•  Medical Needs

Support Group for Caregivers of Senior Loved Ones
Laura Cohen & Denise Kaye have been facilitating a caregiver support group at the JCC twice a month. This virtual support group is now open to any caregiver who has a loved one with Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s etc.

United Way
United Way has a COVID-19 Community Economic Relief Fund. They will help with bills, rent and food. Call 866-211-9966 and provide a zip code and you will be given a list of local agencies to provide assistance.
