The East Valley JCC’s Lone Soldier Project presents comedian and former lone soldier Joel Chasnoff for a virtual comedy show live from Israel at 2 pm Sunday, Nov. 22.
Joel Chasnoff was born in Chicago but volunteered for a combat unit in the Israeli Army when he was 23. He shared his experiences in his memoir, The 188th Crybaby Brigade: Skinny Jewish Kid from Chicago Fights Hezbollah.
He currently lives in Israel and has performed on stage and screen in many countries, including USO tours of Japan and Korea as well as over a thousand appearances in North America, Europe and Israel.
The Lone Soldier Project of the EVJCC raises funds to provide support for lone soldiers, young men and women from around the world who voluntarily serve in the Israel Defense Forces. Without families in Israel, lone soldiers often suffer from loneliness, especially when they have time off from their extremely demanding military duty and on Shabbat and holidays.
Proceeds from this performance will go to lone soldier centers in Israel and help lone soldiers celebrate Shabbat and holidays.
Tickets are $10. Purchase tickets at evjcc.org/comedian.
