National Pomegranate Guild Convention SUCCESSFUL

The Pomegranate Guild Convention held May 31-June 2 at the Hilton Hotel in Mesa was a huge success.

With approximately 100 attendees, it was the largest convention since the inception of the Guild in 1977. Participants came from Canada, Hawaii and the East Coast, and included a nice mix of novices and experienced stitchers.

The 26 hands-on workshops covered techniques in African Folklore Embroidery, Paper Piecing, Huck Embroidery and Blackwork, as well as knitting, crocheting, quilting and many others.

The convention ended with a trip to the Heard Museum and the Jewish Historical Society where the “Chagall Windows,” done in needlepoint by the local chapter, are on display.

The convention was planned by the Desert Cactus Chapter, led by Ellen Lerman, Trudy Cowan and Ferne Avery.

The chapter meets the Second Monday of the month from September to June from 10 am to 1 pm at Temple Chai, 4645 E Marilyn Road in Phoenix. For more information contact Ellen Lerman at [email protected]
