Who braves the heat to travel around Arizona in August? The Roving Rabbis!
From Aug. 7-28, two Chabad-Lubavitch rabbinical students will visit more than 35 cities throughout Arizona, sharing their love for Jewish life. Through the Roving Rabbis program, young rabbis-in-training spend their summer on the road as part of their community outreach training.
Rabbis Tzemach Dovid Feller and Levi Keselman will visit Avondale, Bisbee, Buckeye, Bullhead City, Camp Verde, Casa Grande, Coolidge, Cornville, Cottonwood, Dewey, Duncan, Eloy, Green Valley, Holbrook, Jerome, Kingman, Lake Havasu, Laveen, Maricopa, Nogales, Patagonia, Payson, Pine, Pinetop, Quartzsite, Rio Rico, Sedona, Show Low, Sierra Vista, Snowflake, Sonoita, Tombstone, Wellton, Wickenburg, Wilcox, Winslow and Yuma.
Throughout their three-weeks in the Grand Canyon State, Rabbi Feller and Rabbi Keselman will reach out to members of the Jewish community in the region, primarily in one-on-one home visitations.
“The goal is to make Judaism accessible and relevant to every Jew, wherever they may be,” says Rabbi Zalman Levertov, regional director of Chabad of Arizona, who oversees the program.
This year 350 Chabad-Lubavitch rabbinical students were sent to Jewish communities in Asia, Europe, the Americas and beyond. To read the international Roving Rabbis Blog click here.
