Like people everywhere, the members of Temple Emanuel of Tempe want to be part of the solution during a crisis. They were wondering, How can we support hospital workers? How can we support local businesses? There’s not much we can do as individuals. As a community, however, our impact is amplified.
On May 5, 6, and 13 (and, hopefully, some future dates as well), Flancer’s Restaurant will make and deliver meals to Banner Gateway Hospital in Gilbert. These are funded by members of the synagogue, and they’ll be served to hospital staffers.
They’re calling this project MEALS FOR HEALERS. It’s a way to show gratitude for healthcare workers – but more than this, to give them a break in these challenging days. We know their lives aren’t easy nowadays; and we want to make them a bit simpler.
Banner’s Nicole Davey wrote: “I wanted to thank you for this amazing offer. It means more than you know for our team. This current environment has been a very fluid subject with frequent changes and can be challenging to keep up. This will be such a huge boost to our team.”
Since the hospital cafeteria is not able to serve hot meals, and since time and morale are short, Davey says it means a great deal to the staff to receive donations such as these.
Flancer’s, a favorite local restaurant with locations in Mesa and Gilbert featuring “Gourmet Grub,” is providing the meals at a discount. MEALS FOR HEALERS is just another way Flancer’s has contributed to the wider community. (https://flancers.com/)
To date, Temple Emanuel has raised enough funds to provide about 200 meals, and more donations arrive each day. The outpouring has been amazing. $10 covers the cost of the meal, packaging, and delivery.
They are sent with love and care from the members of Temple Emanuel (https://emanueloftempe.org/).
