Tucson Hebrew Academy honors Richard Belkin

Tucson Hebrew Academy will honor Richard “Dick” Belkin at its virtual 2021 Tikkun Olam Celebration on Sunday, November 7 at 7 pm.

Dick and his wife, Sherry, moved to Tucson in 1989. They found a welcoming Jewish community in which they have both thrived. Dick has held a number of leadership positions, including having served as the Board Chair of the Tucson Jewish Community Center, the Board Chair of the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona, the Chairman of the Arizona Jewish Post, the Board President for Tucson Hebrew Academy (2009-2011), and a Trustee on the Board of the Jewish Community Foundation.

Never idle, in addition to his service to the Jewish community, Dick also authored four popular children’s books. His wife, Sherry, produced two notable fundraisers: “New York, New York” with the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, starring Charo and “New York, New York II” starring Academy Award Winner Red Buttons.

Dick Belkin is a prominent entrepreneur with a storied career. Collaborating with partners, he operated the Observation Deck at the New York World Trade Center from 1995 until the September 2001 terrorist attack. His work as a television executive has included a variety of experiences, including hosting a children’s show and working as a Vice President of television stations stretching from Upstate New York to Hawaii. Presently, he and his wife are reaching world audiences in Australia, Great Britain, Canada, and across the United States as producers of “Come From Away,” the Tony Award-winning musical.
