Desert Foothills Jewish Community Association is presenting a Summer Film Festival with three documentaries being shown monthly immediately following Shabbat services at 7 pm.
June 19 – Geto: The Historic Jewish Ghetto of Venice
July 17 – Resistance: Untold Stories of Jewish Partisans
August 21 – Women Unchained, dealing with obtaining a Get, a Jewish divorce.
Open to all. First attendance is free. Membership in the group is $60 per year.

Open to the public, this FREE weekly class for children 9- to 24-months in age and their parent(s) is fun and educational. Participants sing songs, make art projects, read stories, have a snack, and share parenting advice with each other. Please bring your child with a towel, sunscreen already applied, and wearing appropriate “swimwear” and water shoes. Also bring a dry change of clothes for them. TISHA B’AV is a fast day that commemorates the destruction of the First and Second Temples in ancient times.
It has become a day of general mourning for other major disasters that have befallen the Jewish people, such as the Edict of Expulsion from England in 1290; the expulsion from Spain in 1492; and the mass deportation from the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II.
