Shabbat Morning Services 101 @ Beth El Congregation

Do you have a Simcha coming up or just need a refresher on the basics of Shabbat morning services? Join Rabbi Lavinsky to learn about Shaharit, Musaf, the triennial Torah Reading, Torah and Haftarah readings, how many and who are called up to the Torah, how to take an Aliyah, how non-Jews may participate, head coverings, tallit, and when to sit, stand, or bow. There are no prerequisites, and Hebrew reading skills are not required. This class is conveniently scheduled during religious school hours, and there is no charge. Bring your friends and family. If most Jews knew the “real story” of Hanukkah, they probably wouldn’t celebrate it! HINT: It involves events that resonate to this day – gross inequality and religious coercion. Join us for a special class where we will explore the texts/history behind this holiday, after which attendees are invited to stay and participate in our Religious School Hanukkah Family Workshop .

Theatre Artists Studio presents Cinderella.

A fresh new take on the fairytale favorite, this delightful new musical offers a rollicking good time for the whole family. Both Cinderella and Prince Bobby only want to dance – specifically TAP dance in a show! While his parents want him to find a wife, Bobby uses the “ball” as an audition to find a dancing partner. Join our tap-dancing Cinderella and her Prince; their Dance Instructor/Fairy Godmother, Madam Tatyana; the suave and debonair Armando and the rest of the zany cast for this fast-paced and fun musical romp. With numbers like I Just Wanna Dance, I Can Do Anything, Practice Makes Perfect and The Show Must Go on, you’ll be humming and toe-tapping all the way home.
