An exclusive screening of the Nancy Spielberg-produced movie “Above and Beyond” will be held on Thursday, May 12 at the historic Beth Hebrew Synagogue in Downtown Phoenix.  The event is a joint effort among the Bureau of Jewish Education ACT Program, Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix NowGen and Business & Professionals programs, and JNFuture in honor of Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israeli Independence Day).

The film will be introduced by local author Craig Weiss co-author of the book “My Brother’s Keeper: American Volunteers in Israel’s War for Independence 1947-1949.” His book was the basis for “Above and Beyond.”

The screening is hosted at Beth Hebrew to recognize the Spielberg family’s long-term connection to the temple – Ms. Spielberg’s brother, Steven Spielberg, became a bar mitzvah at Beth Hebrew.

Tickets are $18 and include movie snacks and beverages. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit foundations that support lone soldiers in the IDF.
