Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., children ages 4‒12 and their families can enjoy presentations, gallery explorations, and fun craft activities while learning about the pony express. Mark Reynolds, captain of Arizona’s Hashknife Pony Express, will speak at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in the theater. Letters that kids write at the event will be carried 200 miles on horseback from Holbrook, Ariz. to Scottsdale in February 2017 as part of the world’s oldest, officially sanctioned pony express mail delivery. Cost: $5 per person. Free to museum members. All children must be accompanied by an adult. RSVP recommended; call 480-686-9539 ext. 212 or email education@scottsdalemuseumwest.org with the subject line “Summer Program RSVP.”
