2020 was a year of pivoting for The Martin Pear JCC on the Ina Levine Jewish Community Campus (“The J”). This year is starting out similarly as The J announced a change to its annual Allan J. Flader Community-Wide Purim Carnival.
This year, The J is holding the Allan J. Flader Community-Wide Purim Celebration, the first-ever drive-through Purim Parade on February 21 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Entertainment will include BMX bike stunts, clowns, stilt walkers, aerialists, and much more! Attendees are asked to decorate their car and ride through in costume. The parade judges will pick winners for Best Decorated Car and Most Enthusiastic Car.

This event is free to attend, but registration is required. Families that are interested should register at mpjcc.org/purim2021. Every car will receive a Mishloach Manot bag.
As a mitzvah for Purim, The J will be collecting donations for the Jewish Family and Children’s Services “Just 3 Things” Food Pantry. These donations help children and adults that are in-between homes and teens transitioning out of foster care. JFCS needs non-perishable foods, cleaning supplies, and personal care items; for a full list of acceptable items, visit jfcsaz.org/volunteer.
“The Martin Pear JCC is excited to infuse a bit of fun and normalcy into our community to celebrate Purim 2021. The Allan J. Flader Community-Wide Purim Celebration is a great opportunity for our J staff and community organizations to come together and put on a great experience for families in the valley,” said Jay Jacobs, CEO of Martin Pear JCC. “Our mission is to build connections to the Jewish community in a setting that enriches physical, mental and spiritual growth. We are proud to offer chances to connect, like this Purim celebration, while being socially-distanced and safe.”
