University of Arizona’s Delaney Schnell, along with her teammate Jessica Parratto, executed their five-dive list with poise to earn the silver medal in the women’s synchronized 10-meter platform competition on Tuesday afternoon in Japan, earning the United States’ first medal of any color in the event.
Delaney is 22-years-old, a Tucson native and a Tucson High graduate who was named Pac-12 Diver of the Year after winning two conference titles and finishing second in the NCAA meet in the platform dive, she is also a 2020 World Cup team member, a 2015 and 2019 Pan American Games team member, and a two-time Junior Pan American silver medalist on platform.
She also qualifies for the Olympics in the 10-meter platform that will happen next week on August 3-4, Tucson time.
Delaney chose to attend UA over Texas, Indiana, Florida State and Purdue because she is “familiar with the facilities and coaches.”
